About New Hartford, CT - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
New Hartford is a town in Litchfield County, Connecticut with a population of nearly 7,000 residents. It was originally incorporated in 1738, and was primarily a farming community throughout most of its existence. The Nepaug River powered several small mills such as the National Register-listed Gillette’s Grist Mill, which remains as one of the last examples of a water-driven grist mill remaining in Connecticut. Today New Hartford is primarily a residential community, although there are several small local farms.
New Hartford is home to Ski Sundown, which attracts visitors and residents alike to its ski slopes and its lodge. Sundown’s Snowsports School offers lessons to kids, adults and to a wide range of physically and developmentally challenged individuals. The Ski Sundown racing team trains competitive skiers and sponsors a number of competitions per year.
While winter sports are perennially popular in an area that sees about an average of 13 inches of snow each January, summertime, with its mild, pleasant temperatures, brings ample opportunities for outdoor recreation as well. In New Hartford summertime means swimming in West Hill Lake at Brodie Park. The lake also offers canoeing, boating, and picnicking on the 50-acre beach, and across the road from the beach the park has 150 acres dedicated to horseback riding and hiking trails. Community events held at Brodie Park include the annual “Race Around The Lake” each Memorial Day weekend as well as several summer concerts, a July community picnic and children's Christmas Party. Other New Hartford recreation facilities include Chapin Park with its farmer’s market, Callahan Park, where you can fish in the Farmington River, and Brown’s Corner, with its youth sports facilities.
